Located at 5 km from Vinci, the Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace is situated on the hills of Cerreto Guidi, an ancient village with a castle of the eleventh century. Cosimo I de’ Medici in 1565 in Cerreto Guidi began the construction of a large villa, today a national museum, to which also worked the famous architect Buontalenti.
