“Isabella’s Night” will be staged during the upcoming weekend. This is perhaps the most engaging and evocative appointment of the Cerreto Summer. The historic center of Cerreto Guidi will go, as if by magic, back in time and will awaken in July 1576 in a festive atmosphere for the arrival of the beloved Isabella, daughter of Grand Duke Cosimo I, who has come here to meet her husband in the Medici Villa.

If you come to Cerreto on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 of July, you will meet noblemen and commoners, find ancient crafts, music and Renaissance dances, and of course the choreographic performances of the four Districts of the Palio del Cerro. You will be able to enjoy even more, in this unique atmosphere, the beauties of the Villa Medicea, the Pieve di San Leonardo, and the Oratory of the Santissima Trinità.

In this glipse of the Sixthteen Century you will be able to stop and taste typical dishes in the ancient inns and taverns. The atmosphere will be warmed up with ancient shows and fireworks until the news of Isabella’s mysterious death, on which today’s historical documents still shed a completely different light. “The truth” will be heard whispering among popular stories and legends handed down for centuries, until the grand finale in the magnificent setting of the Medici Bridges to celebrate the life of the “star of house Medici”.

This fascinating historical re-enactment, which is now in its ninth edition, is organized by the Associazione Centro Commerciale Naturale “Buontalenti”, with the support of the Municipality of Cerreto Guidi, the collaboration of the Districts of the Palio del Cerro, of the Pro Loco, of the Parish of Saint Leonard, of the Polo Museale of Tuscany and the patronage of the Region of Tuscany.

“Isabella’s Night” has become an extremely important event that attracts every year thousands of visitors and is able to remain faithful to its original spirit while offering new attractions for each edition. The re-enactment is the result of a careful and precise historical reconstruction in the evocative atmosphere of the Renaissance in the best historical tradition, and of an extraordinary voluntary commitment of all the associations involved in setting up and organizing the event.

The magic that always leaves all the participants ecstatic and enthusiastic will be alive and present this year as well.

The inauguration of the “Isabella’s Night”, with the presence of the respective authorities, will officially take place on Saturday July 6 at 17.30 in Vittorio Emanuele II Square. The party will last until midnight. The event will be repeated on Sunday from 17.00 to 24.00.

Admission includes a € 5.00 ticket and there are exemptions for minors and residents. A free shuttle service will be available from the parking lots.

Among the initiatives included within “Isabella’s Night” we find the sixth edition of “A photo for Isabella”, the photographic competition conceived with the aim of telling, through images, the atmospheres and mysteries of Cerreto Guidi in the 16th Century . Finally, it should be remembered that during the two days of the event, the Medici Villa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, will be opened to visitors for free.
